Kamehameha Butterfly Cards set of 4

The Kamehameha Butterfly is one of only two native pulelehua (butterfly) in Hawai'i. It is found nowhere else in the world and is protected. The butterfly was named in honor of the House of Kamehameha, the royal family that unified the Hawaiian Islands. It has brilliant orange-red wings with black patterns and is the Hawai'i State insect. The butterflies play a role in the Hawai'i ecosystem as pollinators. They feed on the Hibiscus Koki'o, an endemic and extremely endangered flower.
